Ancaster village nursery take tour around windmill

Children at Ancaster Village Nursery and Forest School’s holiday club got to visit Heckington Windmill as part of their adventures last week.

The children took the bus to Sleaford last Wednesday and then hopped on a train to Heckington.

Once they’d arrived, the daring youngsters were able to go to the top of the windmill as part of a guided tour and learnt how the flour is milled before having a go grinding some of their own using replica stones which they then got to take a bag of flour home.

They finished off the day in the interactive centre.

Nursery manager Michelle Webster said: “It was thoroughly enjoyable as well as educational.

“Our children are always so well behaved, but when the tour guide complements their behaviour and tells us what lovely children they are, it really makes us feel proud.”
