Grantham fell silent at 11am this morning, on Armistice Day, to remember the fallen.

The silence, on the ‘eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month’, took place on the green in St Peter’s Hill during the closing of the Garden of Remembrance, attended by civic dignitaries such as Mayor of Grantham Frank Turner.

Today is the 95th anniversary of the signing of the First World War armistice.

** Full coverage of the Remembrance Day parade through Grantham will be in Friday’s Journal.
