Audience in for a treat at singers' 'modern' musical at Grantham Guildhall
Harrowby Singers are back with another evening of musical colour and entertainment.
Still riding on the success of their sell-out production of Sister Act in March, the amateur dramatic society has been busy rehearsing for its annual autumn production, Thoroughly Modern Musicals, which will feature popular West End and Broadway musicals from the year 2000 onwards.
Directed by Charmaine Allison, the audience will get to hear some of their firm favourites including Forget About The Boy - Thoroughly Modern Millie, Without Love -Hairspray, Man in the Mirror-Thriller, Mustang Sally -The Commitments, You’ve Got a Friend-Beautiful, Popular-Wicked, Raise You Up-Kinky Boots and Never Forget - The Band.
Chairman of Harrowby Singers Alexandra Connell said : “The cast have worked so hard to make the upcoming show a real success and we can’t wait for audiences to see everyone’s hard work payoff. It’s been a real joy learning so many great songs from new and modern musicals.”
Charmaine added: “It’s been a real challenge and joy directing this concert. We really wanted to bring modern musicals to the Guildhall stage.
“We are doing some great songs from loved musicals such as Thriller which is made up of Michael Jackson hits as well as songs from the new show THE BAND which is a compilation of Take That songs. Audiences are going to be in for a real treat.”
Thoroughly Modern Musicals is on at the Guildhall for three consecutive nights from Thursday, September 13, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £12 each and can be purchased by calling the Guildhall box office on 01476 406158 or by visiting www.guildhallartscentre.com
