STEALING shower gel worth £1.29 cost a woman her freedom at Grantham Magistrates’ Court this week.
Alice Marshall, 26, of Swinstead, had been released from prison on licence when she stole from Tuffys in Westgate, Grantham.
She left the store without paying for the shower gel. Staff alerted CCTV operators who tracked her movements until she was arrested in Wharf Road.
Marshall compounded her problems by failing to attend court while on bail for the theft, leading to her re-arrest by police.
Rob Arthur, defending, said: “This will cost her a great deal in terms of time.”
Marshall admitted theft and failing to surrender to custody.
She was sentenced to one day in custody for each of the offences.
Marshall was returned to prison where she must serve the remainder of her sentence which runs until August of this year.
