Barkston school in top 10 primary schools in Lincolnshire
A village school has been named in the top 10 primary schools in Lincolnshire.
Barkston and Syston Primary School was ranked seventh in the newly-released Real Schools Guide 2019.
The comprehensive guide for primary schools, compiled by Reach Plc’s data unit, ranks every school in the county based on a variety of factors including progress, pupil-teacher ratios and absence rates.
It aims to give parents a more comprehensive guide to a school’s overall progress.
National league tables currently only look at overall Key Stage 2 results and progress scores, which may mean schools which help all pupils make progress but only get slightly better than average results overall may be overlooked.
Now in its sixth year, the guide has been praised by education officials.
Barkston and Syston was rated ‘good’ at its most recent Ofsted inspection in 2014.
Headteacher Sally-Anne Caunter said: “We are extremely pleased to have been ranked as number 7 in the Real Schools Guide.
“This is a great achievement and due to the dedication and hard work of the staff, pupils, governors and parents.
“It is only by working together as a team that we have been able to achieve this.”
The deadline for primary school applications was Tuesday.
Parents can go online to browse the full data, compare different schools and find links to contact details and recent Ofsted reports.
