After months of hard work, the Geoff Hamilton Winter Border, at Barnsdale Gardens, will be opened in a special ceremony on Tuesday.

Celebrity gardening expert Carol Klein has been invited to open the border which commemorates the 20th anniversary of the untimely death of Geoff, who founded Barnsdale Gardens during his time as presenter of Gardeners’ World.

The borders have been built by Geoff Hamilton’s New Gardeners Foundation bursery student Matthew Narciso and include some very special and unusual plant varieties which have been donated by many of Geoff’s friends.

Nick Hamilton, Geoff’s son said: “On behalf of myself and the trustees of the Foundation, I would like to invite people to join us on this very special day. Carol will open the border by planting the final part at 11.30am, then after the formalities there will be a buffet and refreshments, and the opportunity to join a guided walk.”

Normal admission fees apply for this event. For more details call (01572) 813200 or go to www.barnsdalegardens.co.uk
