Belvoir Castle estate home of former MP searched in historical sex abuse investigation

Police investigating historical accusations of child abuse have searched the Vale of Belvoir home of a former Conservative MP.

Harvey Proctor, 68, who represented constituencies in Essex from 1979-1987, is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police as part of Operation Midland, which focuses on claims of boys being abused by politicians and other high-powered figures in the 1970s and 1980s.

According to the BBC, his home on the Belvoir Castle estate was searched by officers yesterday (Wednesday).
