Belvoir Castle was the venue for a 15-mile horse ride on Sunday which raised over £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

More than 200 riders enjoyed the tranquillity of the estate on Sunday by kind permission of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland.

The ride is an annual event, organised by Christine Griffin and Brenda Greaves and the Melton branch of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Christine said: “The weather stayed fine which meant we had more riders than the previous year.

“It was a beautiful ride, and not a lot of people are allowed to do it.

“Everyone had a great time and we had riders of all ages take part.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to all the helpers as without them we couldn’t put on this kind of event.”
