Belvoir Hunt says traditional Boxing Day meet will go ahead in Grantham

The Belvoir Hunt has announced its popular Boxing Day meet will take place at 11am at Grantham Riverside Pastures, off Stonebridge Road.

Doubt was cast on the meet this year after the Mayor of Grantham, Coun Lynda Coutts, announced she would not be greeting the Hunt following disagreements over hosting the event. The Mayor's Parlour will be closed on the day. The Hunt has usually met on St Peter's Hill outside the Guildhall.

The Hunt says The Riverside Pastures venue will allow improved viewing for all those attending. A spokesman said: "The Boxing Day meet is a traditional part of Christmas for many families up and down the country. In Grantham the meet has been taking place for 130 years and has remained a popular focal point for people living in and around the Grantham area, giving the opportunity to get out and about with family and friends following the celebrations of Christmas Day.

"The Belvoir Hunt and its supporters very much look forward to welcoming everyone at 11am on Boxing Day."

For those planning to attend the Boxing Day meet at Grantham Riverside Pastures, access is via entrances from St Catherine's Road and Stonebridge Road. There is no parking on St Catherine's Road, and drivers are asked to use Welham Street car park.
