Benches installed as Grantham park develops

Three new picnic tables with benches have been installed at Wyndham Park as part of the ongoing Heritage Lottery Funded project.

The installation was completed last week after public requests for additional seating. The benches include ground reinforcement.

Cabinet member for retail and visitor economy, Coun Nick Robins said: “We have added three new picnic benches near the paddling pool, one of the places visitors have asked us to put them.

“The restoration project is not just about the buildings but about the landscape too. There is always demand for additional seating in our open spaces and we’ve responded to those comments from the public.

“Hundreds of people enjoy the paddling pool on a daily basis and the new equipment was in use within hours of being installed.”

The timber picnic tables are expected to have a 20-year-plus lifespan.

The district council and Wyndham Park Forum were awarded £818,000 in Lottery cash in 2016, to build and update its facilities.

Plans include the refurbishment of the boating lake, old changing rooms and ticket office.
