Turning 50 spurred on two friends to embark on a gruelling challenge which saw them cover 926 miles in 10 days by bike.
Paul Cullington and Mark Gray, both from Grantham, soon overcame the nerves when they set off from Lands End, and felt privileged to have seen some of the country’s most stunning views as they travelled towards John O’Groats.
Paul said: “One of the most memorable things about it was the scenery. Going by the side of Loch Ness with the wind behind us...it was beautiful.”
Mark added: “It was lovely sitting in a lay-by in front of the loch, looking out at the views.”
It was not until the start of the June, just four weeks until their challenge began, that Paul and Mark decided to raise money for charity, picking Cancer Research UK. This week, they handed in a cheque for £900 at the Grantham charity shop.
