Bottesford residents take part in life-saving training

Residents in Bottesford attended a free defibrillator training afternoon on Sunday.

The afternoon was organised by The Friendly Bench and hosted by Aly Greenway Workplace Training.

Lyndsey Young, who launched The Friendly Bench, along with support from the Big Lottery Fund, said: “In December, I alongside some of my neighbours, was in the position where we needed to use a defibrillator (AED)

“Afterwards I felt that more people in our community needed to be aware of how to use a defibrillator.”

Thirty-five residents turned up for the session including community groups, the preschool, patient participation group, church, U3A and the community newsletter.

Lyndsey added: “We had a fabulous turnout from people both young and old. The feedback was outstanding.”

One participant said: “It was really useful. The trainers were great as was the delivery. I have much more confidence now.”
