The annual Buckminster Primary School Summer Fete and Dog Show is to be held on Saturday, June 27, from 11am to 2.30pm.

The fete will include a dog show and dog agility, where visitors will get an opportunity to even ‘rent-a-dog’ to try out the course.

Registration for the dog show is from 11am. It starts at noon with classes including Best Puppy, Best Bitch, Best Dog, Best Veteran, Best Child Handler, Waggiest Tail and Sausage Run. Winners in each class go through to Best in Show.

Entry is £2 per class or three classes for £5. There are several prizes, rosettes and trophies up for grabs.

There will be a variety of stalls including local trade stalls, handmade jewellery, glitter tattoos, sweets, cupcakes, toys and teddies.

You can try your hand at old favourites such as Hook a Duck, Coconut Shy, Splat the Rat and Win a Bottle. There will be a lucky dip and tombola.

More entertainment will include Beat the Goalie and pin ball championships. as well as the ‘headmaster in stocks’, bouncy castle, mini-assault course and human fruit machine. Join us for the afternoon and sample Leeson’s Family Butcher’s famous sausages and burgers or relax with a lovely cup of tea and a scone with home-made jam. There will be a licensed beer tent.

The fete is a PTFA event. The current project is renovating and refurbishing the school library for which £7,000 has so far been raised. The school is also raising funds to repair and extend its school farm, which was damaged in the heavy snowfall earlier this year.
