Budding young chefs impress in Rotary Grantham contest

Budding young chefs showed off their culinary skills at the annual Rotary Young Chef heat competition hosted by the Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven.

This year’s event was held in the kitchens at Charles Read Academy in Corby Glen with aspiring young chefs from Walton Academy and Charles Read taking part.

Under the eagle eyes of the judges, the students whisked, chopped and baked enthusiastically to produce a healthy two-course meal for two people on a budget.

Most of the students prepared a main course and a dessert.

The winning Young Chef was Charles Read pupil Sophie Machin. She will now be entered into the district competition in Peterborough next year.
