Shoppers will have a while longer to wait before stepping into the aisles of Grantham’s new Lidl store.

The completion date for the brand new build, in Union Street, has been delayed.

According to a spokesman for the German chain, a new completion date has not yet been finalised but it is hoped the store will open its doors to customers early- to mid-March.

Lidl closed on July 20 and demolition work began shortly after. The redevelopment will allow vehicles to access the car park via Watergate. The new purpose-built store is expected to be more in keeping with other buildings in Watergate.
