VILLAGERS’ fream of a brand new villahe hall is nearing reality.
After five years of planning and fund-raising, the wait is almost over, thanks in part to a £50,000 donation by WREN.
Building work began on the hall a few months ago and the external structure will soon be complete.
Next on the to do list is the internal work, which is what the WREN grant will pay for.
WREN’s Cheryl Raynor met with villagers on Monday to hand over the cheque. Vilagers themselves have managed to raise an incredible £20,000, and other organisations have also made grants.
The original village hall was given to the village in the 1900s and was declared as beyond repair in 2006.
Hall representative Dennis Major said: “The new hall is very important to the village as it provides a venue for a range of village activities and a focal point for the community.”
