HOPES to make Grantham a Fairtrade town are even highter after a two-week exhibition in the town’s The George Centre were hailed a success.
Organised as part of Fairtrade Fortnight by Churches Together, it was a chance for shoppers to find out more about the ethical products and how buying them instead of regular goods ensures traders are fairly paid.
Jack Odell, of Churches Together, said: “The Fairtrade exhibition in The George Centre attracted quite a lot of interest during the fortnight.
“Councillors and business representatives attended an evening reception, when the goals to become a Fairtrade town were explained.”
Shoppers enquiring about the exhibition were invited to take part in a mini quiz with a hamper or Fairtrade goods, donated by the Co-op in Dysart Road, up for grabs to the winner.
