Restaurant chain Pizza Hut is due to open a takeaway in Grantham town centre early next year.
The takeaway will open in a former sewing machine shop at 4 Watergate which has stood empty since 2007.
Agents Brown & Co have been trying to lease the property for the past seven years since the previous business ceased trading, however, the company says the economic downtown and general decline of the retail sector in Grantham has meant that many potential businesses have been put off opening new premises in the town.
Now Brown & Co have secured a new franchisee to take on the Pizza Hut business and the outfitting of the building is due to take place soon.
Pizza Hut already operates an established restaurant and takeaway on London Road in Grantham.
The Journal has asked Pizza Hut for a statement on the new takeaway business and is waiting for a response.
