A PUB in Grantham is set to be demolished to make way for the town’s second drive-thru fast food restaurant.
Subject to gaining planning permission, KFC will call the Isaac Newton pub home, on the corner of Springfield Road and Harlaxton Road.
The land is owned by Grantham Estates, and managing director David Hindmarch has revealed the chain’s big plans for the site.
He said: “Everything is agreed with the tenant and assuming we can get planning approval from South Kesteven District Council then we will be building in the spring.
“I think it will be really popular. I’ve known for a long time that KFC has an aspiration to have a larger restaurant in Grantham and I think that location works really because there’s a huge residential catchment close to there.”
KFC told the Journal that 30-40 new jobs would be created if the new restaurant gets the go-ahead.
A spokesman added: “We’d love to open a new restaurant in Grantham.
“While it’s still early days at the moment, we hope to have some good news in the future.”
