The Post Office in Grantham was closed today (Monday) as staff went on strike as part of a long-running row over closures, jobs and pay.

The town’s branch, in St Peter’s Hill, was one of 80 Crown branches closed across the country.

A spokesman for the Post Office said: “The strike action only affects Crown branches of which there are around 370 across the UK. The remainder of our 11,800 branches are not affected. Around 290 out of the 370 branches are open.

“However, Grantham branch is one of the ones which are closed. We do of course regret any inconvenience caused to customers.”

The walk-out was for 24 hours. The Post Office in Grantham will be open as normal tomorrow.
