SNOW, ice and bitterly cold weather lent an especially festive feel to last Sunday’s Spirit of Christmas family fun day in Grantham.
The Christmas market, organised by Grantham Events Group, attracted thousands of people shopping for Christmas presents and enjoying the atmosphere of the event.
Westgate and Market Place played host to numerous stalls run by businesses and charities as well as fairground rides.
More present-shopping opportunities were offered by the craft fair in the Guildhall and the Young Enterprise market in the George Shopping Centre.
Also in the George Centre, there were large queues of children wanting to meet Santa.
There was live music in St Peter’s Hill and a display of engines which was popular with visitors.
The event concluded with the grand parade and the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights.
There was carol singing organised by Churches Together, which was also collecting toys to give to disadvantaged children this Christmas.
