Businessman sounds warning after break-in at Folkingham premises
The owner of a chocolate firm has warned other business owners to be vigilant after his premises were broken into last week while he and his partner were asleep upstairs.
Jan Hansen, who owns the Chocolate House in Folkingham, says the premises were broken into at the back although nothing was taken.
Mr Hansen says the incident has only increased his concern that Lincolnshire Police are underfunded and overstretched.
The break-in happened overnight when a rear window was broken and at least one person got into the kitchen.
But Mr Hansen said that nothing was taken and little was disturbed.
Mr Hansen, who has run the chocolate business in Folkingham since 2004, said: “The police did the best they could and came round pretty quickly. It later on transpired that a number of other businesses in the area including Billingborough had been targeted.
“We don’t keep money on the premises and nothing had been touched which is really surprising. But it really worries me that living out in the sticks that crooks don’t have too much to worry about because the police are so stretched. They need more funding. I think crime at businesses locally is fairly constant.”
Mr Hansen said he wanted to alert businesses tpo the problem. He said: “I would like to warn people to be on the lookout. If you see any suspicious vehicles take their number plat and call the police.”
