CADETS from 47F Grantham Squadron dry off after a day to remember working alongside firefighters at RAF Cranwell.

The young cadets spent last weekend at the RAF base taking part in a host of activities including using a flight simulator, gym, drill on the station parade square, a church parade, bowling and a visit to the fire section.

But the highlight was a competition between cadets where they were tasked with rolling out the fire hoses, connecting the water and aiming at a target.

Officer Commanding 47F Squadron, Flt Lt Gary Allen said; “It was soon apparent that getting each other wet was also part of the fun.

“By the end of the competition all of the cadets had managed to get themselves wet and the measure of their enjoyment was how wet they had become.”

Following the fire section visit, the cadets took the short walk to their accommodation to dry off and get ready for their evening meal.

Meal times were also a highlight for many of the cadets as their first experience of the high quality of RAF food.

Flt Lt Allen said; “This was a fantastic weekend, everything was within short walking distance.

“Cadets enjoy camping but this experience having their own room, hot water and great food was enjoyable for them all.”
