Captured from the skies: Recycling plant Mid UK, between Grantham and Sleaford, continues to burn nine days on

This aerial shot and video, taken by Michael Keng of Kurina Aerial Photography, shows smoke still rising from one of Mid UK’s sheds, nine days after a blaze began at the Barkston Heath recycling facility.

Following the blaze involving 4,000 bales of recycling, which started last Tuesday, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have scaled back their activity.

A few bales still smouldering are being left to burn out, monitored by on site Mid UK fire marshals and Fire and Rescue officers who continue to visit at regular intervals.

As well as warning nearby residents to continue to be wary of smoke levels by closing windows and doors, Public Health England advised: “Motorists who have to travel through the smoke should keep windows closed, turn off air conditioning and keep their air vents closed.”
