Grantham care home holds pirate-themed day for residents

A care home has held a pirate-themed day instead of its usual summer fete after it was cancelled because of the pandemic.

The summer fete at the Maple Leaf Care Home on Beacon Lane, Grantham, is a big event in its calendar with lots of people attending and raising money but due to coronavirus visitors are not being allowed into the home.

The day was filled with pirate games from pin the eye patch on the pirate, treasure hunt, and a treasure chest piñata. A raffle raised £125 for the home.

All the residents had the chance to dress up as well as the staff.

Activity assistant Courtney Doncaster said: “We had lots of fun on the day and the sun was shining for us. We had the chance to be outside in the lovely garden”.

Activity coordinator Alison Bradley added: "We love making the residents smile and entertainingthem any way we can through this pandemic.”
