Celebrations planned as The Range gets ready to open its Grantham store
A weekend of celebrations and fun will be hosted at Grantham’s newest store when it throws open its doors to shoppers next week.
After a wait of nearly two years, The Range will finally open for business in newly revamped premises at the Grantham Retail Park, in Gonerby Road.
It comes during a period of massive expansion for the company.
The store, which is made up of 16 departments spread across two floors including an outdoor garden centre, will open on February 5 at 9am.
Special guest, Mayor of Grantham, Councillor Jacky Smith, will be at the launch to officially open the store.
She will be joined at the opening by entrepreneur, Chris Dawson, the owner and founder of The Range.
The store has created 80 jobs for local people from store managers to warehouse staff and sales assistants to store and office managers with most of the positions effectively filled within a few days of the vacancies being advertised.
Mr Dawson said: “Opening a new store is always an exciting moment for the company and the Grantham store is no exception.
“It comes during a period of massive expansion for the company.
“We look forward to inviting the local community to celebrate the grand opening.
He added: “It is a fantastic investment to the local economy and is a welcome addition to Grantham Retail Park on Gonerby Road.”
A spokeswoman for The Range said: “We are thrilled to announce that our very own mascot, Captain Range, will be attending to provide balloons and entertainment for the young and young at heart.”
Radio station Lincs FM will be in store on the day to entertain the customers and will be running a competition for a handful of lucky winners to win a share of £250 in Range vouchers.
The Range will also be offering giveaways to the first 50 people in the queue, be there early for a chance to win.
On February 6, Snazaroo will be providing free face painting for children and Trimcraft will be running a free craft demo.
DO Crafts will be in-store on February 7 to run a second free craft demonstration.
Planning permission to make changes to the premises to cater for The Range was granted in May 2014.
