Children from Melton and the Vale of Belvoir enjoying this month’s Cricket and Countryside School Days at Belvoir Castle are being invited to return for a summer camp on the estate.
The Belvoir Fieldsports 12-20 Club is running a two-day event on July 23-24, which will again combine sport and countryside activities.
The club is aimed at 10 to 15-year-olds with an educational hands-on approach to a range of country pursuits such as shooting, fishing, gundog handling and archery.
Children who attend will also get to enjoy a game barbecue and play cricket and have a tour of the world famous Trent Bridge.
They will experience overnight camping in the grounds of Belvoir Castle and go on an early morning walk with the Belvoir Hunt.
The initiative was launched by the Duchess of Rutland in 2012, with an eye to the future of country pursuits and all activities are led by experienced instructors.
Proceeds from the camp will be split between the Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust and countryside charities.
