Churches Together in Grantham will provide Christmas lunches for those in need

Volunteers will help feed people in need on Christmas Day as Churches Together in Grantham provides meals for the sixth year running.

Lunches will be served at the Salvation Army Citadel in London Road for the homeless, while lunches served at St Mary’s Church hall, in Broad Street, are for people who are infirm, elderly or lonely.

Meanwhile, cold platters and a Christmas gift are delivered to people who are unable to leave their homes due to age or infirmity.

Volunteers typically help 60 people in total.

Volunteer Bob Adams said: “The volunteers who deliver the platters spend time with the elderly as they may be the only people they see during the day.

“We know the elderly appreciate the time spent with them on Christmas Day.”

A volunteers meeting is on Tuesday, November 27, at 7.30pm, at St Mary’s parish hall. All are welcome to go along and find out more.

It is equally hoped that the business people and supermarkets of the town may respond financially in supporting the event with either a donation towards the cost or by providing items of food. To offer help, call either of the above numbers.
