DONATIONS to a clothing bank installed at RAF College Cranwell will go to ex-service personnel suffering from psychological problems such as post traumatic stress disorder.
The charity bank, run by Green Light Enterprise on behalf of Combat Stress, is in place by the Spar shop on the base.
It is hoped families will follow the lead of the thrift shop located in the camp’s Brunei Community Centre, which is where the first pile of clothes deposited came from.
Squadron Leader Maggie Boyle, officer commanding personnel management squadron, said: “Combat Stress gives amazing support to veterans, helping them through some very difficult situations. But it can only keep doing that if it has the money coming in.
“This is a really straightforward fund-raising initiative, one that we can all help with.”
Clothes donated through the big green clothing bank must be clean and dry. Shoes can also be deposited.
Combat Stress will receive a monthly income from the initiative.
