Grantham College centre needs £10,000 for sensory 'magic' carpet

By KentOnline reporter

Staff and pupils at Grantham College are raising money for a sensory ‘magic’ carpet.

The device, which would be placed in the Learning Development Centre within the college, is expected to cost £10,000.

Pupils and staff at the Day Break day centre, which offers leisure activities for young adults with learning or physical disabilities, held a car boot sale at Grantham railway station on Sunday and will be hosting another stall at the Urban Hotel on September 15.

Ticket sales from the college Christmas disco will also go towards the fund-raising efforts.

Sarah Done, manager of the Day Break centre, said : “A ‘magic’ carpet offers lots of engagement from simple, fun activities to challenging quizzes. The unit is adjustable and portable, so it allows for true inclusiveness for everyone. It is straightforward and accessible.

“We would appreciate any help with fund-raising ideas and any donations would be kindly received.”
