Commonwealth flag to fly high in Grantham

By Grantham Reporter

South Kesteven will join thousands of people across the globe to raise a Commonwealth Flag as part of ceremonies celebrating Commonwealth Day 2019.

They will mark the occasion with a formal flag raising ceremony on Monday, March 11, outside South Kesteven District Council’s (SKDC) civic suite on St Peter’s Hill, Grantham.

The ceremony is part of the Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth initiative, now in its fifth year, and will be one of more than 1,000 flag raising events across the world in a shared celebration of the friendship and cooperation opportunities offered with fellow Commonwealth citizens of all ages.

Joining this year’s theme of ‘A Connected Commonwealth’, the ceremony will take place between 9.45am and 10am with around 40 guests including local schools attending.
