Coronavirus: Grantham Meres leisure centre closed

South Kesteven District Council's leisure centres in Grantham, Stamford, Bourne and the Deepings have been closed by management company 1Life until further notice following yesterday's Government guidance.

After Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced all pubs, theatres, leisure centres and gyms should close, 1Life closed the doors last night (Friday, March 20) at The Meres leisure centre.

Elsewhere, pubs have closed but supermarkets continue to be busy, with new initiatives announced to ensure the elderly and vulnerable and NHS staff have all they need.

In a statement 1Life said all current memberships and swim school payments would be suspended from the April 1 payment until the centre reopens and that members don't need to do anything.

Mark Braithwaite, 1Life managing director, said: "During this difficult time it is more important than ever to maintain mental and physical health, so as valued members we will be providing some great exercise content you can complete at home in the days ahead.

"Please keep checking your emails, our Facebook pages and our website at 1Life.co.uk to keep up to date with latest news regarding our reopening dates and further remote health and activity support that we can provide you.

"We would like to thank you for your understanding and patience over this difficult period and will be in contact at the earliest opportunity with any updates."
