South Kesteven District Council receives £1.4 million emergency funding from government

The district council has received £1.4 million in emergency funding from government to help it through the coronavirus crisis.

The council says it is under great financial pressure although cannot say what the cost will be to its finances at this stage.

Leader of South Kesteven District Council, Councillor Kelham Cooke, said: “Given the unprecedented times we are facing, it stands to reason that all councils are facing financial pressures as a result of Covid-19. We do not know how long the current situation is going to continue and it is too early to say what the actual cost may be, but the Government has been clear that it will support all tiers of local government through this crisis and the recovery.
