Council leader confirms ‘sacking’ of two Grantham councillors

Leader of South Kesteven District Council Linda Neal has confirmed the sacking of two councillors from the South Kesteven District Council Conservative group.

As reported by the Journal online yesterday (Tuesday), district councillors Mike and Jean Taylor resigned from the Grantham and Stamford Conservative Association and defected to UKIP.

In a statement released by leader of SKDC Linda Neal, she said: “Following the recent actions and behaviour of Coun Mike Taylor and Coun Jean Taylor, the Conservative group on South Kesteven District Council has permanently excluded them both from membership of the group.

“The exclusion of Coun Jean Taylor took effect as of Monday afternoon at approximately 3pm. Coun Mike Taylor’s exclusion took effect as of 11.45am Tuesday.

“In addition Coun Mike Taylor’s permanent exclusion from the group renders his position as a cabinet portfolio holder untenable. He was therefore sacked from the cabinet at the same time.”
