Council prepares school transport for Grantham area pupils

As schools return next week, the county council is preparing transport to allow pupils to travel safely to school amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Lincolnshire County Council is encouraging children, where possible, to walk or cycle to their place of education or for parents to consider driving them.

A spokesperson said: "This will help us to reduce the number of interactions between children.

"If your child is entitled to free or subsidised transport, only use it if absolutely necessary."

Despite encouraging pupils to wear face masks, it will still allow children on board without one.

Social distancing is not required on dedicated school transport, but should be implemented where possible.

Pupils will be asked to thoroughly wash their hands before and after their journey.

If a pupil develops Covid-19 symptoms while at school they must not travel home using school transport.
