Council wants to employ apprentice to work in Grantham park
The district council has a vacancy for an apprentice to work in Wyndham Park in Grantham.
South Kesteven District Council wants to employ someone to help with the maintenance and development of the park. The new post has been made possible with Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and BIG Lottery Funding.
The right candidate will work for the council’s grounds maintenance contractor Glendale and learn the skills needed to maintain plant collections and grounds.
The 15-month apprenticeship scheme will allow the apprentice to attend college and receive workplace tuition, developing their horticultural skills, knowledge and undertaking ongoing skills assessments.
The role will include planting, pruning, seeding, grass cutting, maintaining shrub beds, removing litter and working towards an NVQ Level 2 Horticulture qualification provided by Brooksby Melton College.
SKDC’s Executive Member Coun Nick Craft said: “This is a great opportunity for someone seeking a career in horticulture.
“It’s an exciting time for the park as our HLF and BIG Lottery Funded project continues this year with new buildings and features in the park starting to take shape. Come and be a part of a wonderful time for Wyndham Park.”
