Councillor and former policeman makes donation to cadets
A county councillor from Grantham has donated £300 to police cadets to help them buy kit.
Coun Ray Wootten, a former policeman who represents Grantham North on Lincolnshire County Council, donated the money from the Councillor’s Big Society Fund to Grantham Police Cadets. This donation enables the cadets to purchase much need boots and camping equipment.
Coun Wootten said: “As part if the County Council Councillor Big Society Fund I was pleased to be able to support Grantham Police Cadets. As a former Royal Marine Cadet I know that becoming a cadet brings life changing skills and values such as discipline, loyalty, friendship and fun. The donation of £300 was to enable cadets from disadvantaged backgrounds to take advantage of joining in team events. Over the period if six years as a councillor I have supported not only the Police Cadets but Grantham Air Cadets and Grantham and District Scouts. I will continue to support Cadet organisations in Grantham in the new financial year.”
