Two top Irish music entertainers are the next guests of the Best of Friends Country Music Club in Grantham.

Ally Harron and Marian Curry will delight their audience with an evening of Irish and country music tomorrow (Saturday) at the Masonic Hall in Chambers Street, Grantham.

The talented duo have together enjoyed success on radio, TV and as recording artists, after very different earlier careers.

Ally Harron grew up in Derrylin, Co Fermanagh and found a passion for country music in his very early teens which has been his way of life ever since.

In the early days Ally was influenced by country legends such as Hank Williams, Buck Owens, George Jones and Merle Haggard and went on to play lead guitar and sing with Tommy Fee and the Cajun Sound.

After gaining invaluable live experience he went on to play with the Driftwood Showband.

Ally has recorded four albums to date, two as a solo artist and two with his musical partner Marian Curry.

Local variety concerts gave Marian her first taste of the stage, but in her early teens she found rock and roll and shared lead vocals in Paddy Boy, April South and The Silver Pennies.

Extensive touring in Ireland and the UK gave Marian a wealth of experience that is evident in her performances on stage and in the recording studio.

Success with a release of the Dobie Gray song Drift Away in the 1980s encoraged her to perform more mature material, which eventually led to her singing and performing on the country and Irish music scenes.

Tomorrow’s show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Neville on 01476 567777 or 07902 622139.
