The A52 between Barrowby and Saxondale was closed both ways for several hours last night following a car crash at Sedgebrook.

At 6.10pm police, fire and rescue and the ambulance service were called to the scene where a Audi A4 estate had collided with a lamp post.

Police report that as a result of this crash an articulated lorry also became involved in the incident, leading to the subsequent road closure.

The car was driven by a 62-year-old man from Sedgebrook who was cut out of the vehicle by the fire service.

He was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre and remains there with some internal injuries, although they are not believed to be life threatening.

Long delays were reported as a result of the road closure, before it was reopened at around 9pm.
