Grantham firefighters were called to two house fires yesterday afternoon within a few hours of each other.

The first fire happened at a property in New Street at about 1.30pm. A fire crew attended after alarms sounded. The fire started in a kitchen but was out by the time the crew arrived. They damped down the area.

The second incident happened in Hough Road at about 3.30pm when a fire started in a boiler. Firefighters isolated the supply to the boiler. The cause was a mechanical fault.
