A MAN stole a bottle of apple Zamereto from B & M Bargains in Grantham.

Mervyn East, of Ryde Avenue, Grantham, took the alcohol with the intention of selling it to buy food.

East was spotted by staff on CCTV and found outside the store hiding behind a nearby van.

He also admitted being in breach of a conditional discharge after recently stealing a bar of chocolate.

East admitted theft but told the court he had no money. He was fined £40 but told that by turning up to court he had served the sentence for defaulting on the payment.
