A burglar who stole a hot water cylinder from an empty property left a trail of destruction, a court was told on Wednesday.
Clive Taylor ripped the cylinder from its fittings leaving water pouring out from the fractured pipes.
Alison Joyce, prosecuting, told Lincoln Crown Court that Taylor had helped the outgoing tenant move from the property just hours earlier. The same evening nearby residents of the property in Hodder Close, Grantham, noticed somone inside what they thought was an empty building and contacted police.
Taylor, 21, was linked with the raid and when he was arrested he confessed.
Taylor, of Porter Square, Grantham, admitted burglary on July 11. He was given a community order with 200 hours’ unpaid work and a three month night-time curfew.
