Caythorpe was a hive of police activity last night (Monday) as officers carried out a search for a man who stole cash from the village shop.

The man, wearing a balaclava, went into the shop, leaned over the counter and grabbed a handful of cash. A staff member tried to stop him but he got away and ran off. He was not carrying a weapon.

Police were called just before 8.30pm and searched the village, but they were unsuccessful in tracking him down.

The thief is described as being 5ft 6ins to 5ft 8ins tall, wearing a black coat with a grey hoody underneath, a hat, balaclava and gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lincolnshire Police on the non-emergency 101 number, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
