Cases heard before magistrates include:
*Ian Welham, 59, of Harris Way, Grantham: admits assaulting a woman by beating. Sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay a £15 victim surcharge.
*Paul Chi Lau, 42, of Winchester Road, Grantham: denies assaulting a woman by beating in Brecon Close, Gonerby Hill Foot, on February 12 and February 15. He was remanded on bail until August 17, with conditions that he does not contact three named persons nor attend an address in Brecon Close, Gonerby Hill Foot.
*Terrence Scott, 52, of Harlaxton Road, Grantham: denies causing unnecessary suffering to a black Shetland type pony called Bobbysocks between November 24 and December 22, 2014, and between December 19 and December 22, 2014, at Allington, by failing to investigate and address the causes of poor body condition and weight loss, and by failing to provide a supply of fresh drinking water. Remanded on bail until September 24.
*Nicholas Carter, 30, of Coverly Road, South Witham: admits failing to comply with community order requirements. Ten hours were added to the community order and he was told to pay costs of £75.
*Lee Gray, 32, of Beechcroft Road, Grantham: admits failing to comply with community order requirements. Suspended sentence imposed for offence of assaulting a woman by beating amended to five months’ imprisonment suspended for two years, plus 30 hours’ unpaid work.
*Richard Barry, 52, of Riverside, Welham Street, Grantham: admits drinking alcoholo from an open container in High Street, Grantham, despite being subject to an anti-social behaviour order prohibiting him from doing so. Told to pay an £80 victim surcharge and £180 costs.
*Caren Patel, 33, Croake Hill, Swinstead: denies stealing candles worth £26 from Asda in Grantham on May 29. Remanded on bail until September 21 with a condition not to enter Asda.
*Paul Drury, 51, of London Road, Grantham: admits committing fraud between September 14 and October 14, 2014, at the Electric Club in Grantham, in that he abused his position as club steward to make a gain for himself. Sentenced to 24 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and told to pay a victim surcharge of £80 and £45 towards costs.
*Jake Ian Jamie Taylor, 18, of Lymn Court, Grantham: denies four counts of assaulting a woman by beating and one count of intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Beck Gardens, Grantham. Admits using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and to having in his possession a bottle as an offensive weapon in Butchers Row, Grantham, on April 26, and to breaking bail conditions. Remanded on bail until August 26 subject to a curfew of 10am to 7am, to sleep each night at an address in Lymn Court and to be electronically monitored.
*Aaron Kelly, 31, of Sycamore Court, Grantham: denies attempting to enter a shed/garage as a trespasser with intent to steal, having with him a screwdriver, gloves, pliers and headtorch for use in a burglary, and two counts of dishonestly undertaking or assisting in the taking of stolen goods, namely a remote control car and sat nav. Remanded on bail until July 20 with conditions to be electronically monitored and to reside at an address in Sycamore Court, Grantham.
*Laura Parker, 30, of Uplands Drive, Grantham: charged with driving a Ford Fiesta in Uplands Drive on September 30, 2014, when an accident occurred whereby injury was caused to a person, but not giving a name and address and failing to report the accident to a police constable within 24 hours. Also charged with failing to stop in relation to the same incident, and to driving without due care and attention. Case adjourned to September 2.
