A CHANGE in medication led to a dad leaving a Grantham supermarket without paying for his beer.

Robert Cook, 31, of Avenue Road, Grantham, admitted leaving Asda at around 6.30pm on July 17 with a £1.55 bottle of beer down his trousers.

He was seen on CCTV taking the bottle and leaving the store, it was recovered later in a re-saleable condition and he was arrested.

Rory Macmillan, defending, said Cook is on a variety of medication for anxiety and depression as well as methadone.

He said Cook was doing well on a community order, which was imposed four days before her stole the beer.

He said: “He recently changed medication and felt a bit all over the place. He had the money. He thought he had paid for the beer but hadn’t.”

Magistrates fined Cook £50 and ordered him to pay £15 victim surcharge. They allowed his community order to continue.
