A CCTV image of a man who is suspected of threatening a train guard with a meat cleaver has been released by the British Transport Police.
As reported in the Journal two weeks ago, the man escaped from the train as it pulled into Grantham train station on Thursday, October 20.
Detective constable Ian Grice said: “At around 10pm, a train guard asked a passenger for his ticket as he travelled onboard the 8.45pm Leeds to London Kings Cross service.
“The man became aggressive and took a meat cleaver from the back of his trousers before pointing it at the guard, threatening him with it if he attempted called the police.”
Detectives seized hours of CCTV footage after an initial appeal for information.
Dc Hunt said: “This was a very unpleasant and intimidating experience for the member of staff, who had rightly asked the man for his ticket.
“Nobody should have to encounter threats of this kind for simply doing their job and I am asking anyone with any information that could assist our investigation to come forward.
“Officers are making local enquiries, including speaking to witnesses, and would like to hear from anyone with information about what took place.”
