A Grantham man did not appear at court to face a charge of stealing aftershave worth £10 because he had a bad knee.

Duaine Asher, aged 33, of Sharpe Road, informed Grantham magistrates court that his injury prevented him from answering one count of theft from the town’s branch of Lloyds Pharmacy on July 15.

The case was adjourned until August 14 with Asher on conditional bail not to enter any shop except Asda.
