A 36-year-old who was released on bail on August 11 appeared back at Grantham magistrates charged with attempting to steal razor blades from Sainsburys and being equipped with a foil lined bag.

Ruben Da Silva of Norton Street, Grantham appeared at court in custody on the same day that he had been seen taking £84 worth of razor blades by Sainsburys’ staff, said prosecutor Jim Clare.

Da Silva admitted that this breached his bail conditions not to enter any retail premises except Kwik Save on Harlaxton Road and Boots Pharmacy on St Peter’s Hill.

These were imposed on August 11 when Da Silva pleaded not guilty to stealing £7.99 worth of cleaning products on June 12 and two cans of Lynx deodorant and dog food costing £4.77 on June 16 from Home Bargains on Sankt Augustin Way.

Defending, Sonia Bhalla said that Da Silva was struggling with an ongoing drug habit. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on September 1.
