A 37-year-old admitted possession of cannabis after police found him rolling a joint during a house search.

Steven Franklin, of Welland Court, Grantham, pleaded guilty to possessing 50.1 grams of the class B drug. Franklin also admitted this breached a 12-month conditional discharge given on November 4 last year.

Prosecutor Shelley Wilson said police went to Franklin’s home on July 16 with a search warrant.

On arrival officers found Franklin rolling a cannabis cigarette with remnants of the drug around him.

He was taken to Grantham police station and the quantity of drugs was identified as having a street value of about £60, although Franklin said it was for his own use.

Rory Macmillan, defending, said his client was not dependent on cannabis, but a recreational user.

Franklin must pay a £90 fine, a £20 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs. The conditional will stay in force.
