A disqualified driver was punished for borrowing a friend’s van to collect a bouncy castle.
On June 6 at 10.30am, Christopher Lower, 32, of Vernon Avenue in Nottingham was caught driving a van on Hazelwood Drive in Grantham.
Despite being disqualifed from driving, Lower, who works for a company supplying marquees and bouncy castles, had decided to use the van for his job as no-one else was available to drive him.
However his details came up on the police’s national database and he was stopped and taken to Grantham police station.
There, police also discovered that he had no insurance and as a consquence had breached his conditional discharge of 12 months.
Lower pleaded guilty to all three charges of driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and breaching his conditional discharge.
Magistrates adjourned the case until July 21 so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared on Lower, who remains on unconditional bail.
